Walking the sacred boundary of Kashi
Kashi is held to be bounded by a sacred circle of five kos (panch-kos). Pilgrims walk its perimeter — traditionally about 84 km over five days with halts at Kardameshwar, Bhimchandi, Rameshwar, Shivpur and Kapildhara — touching dozens of shrines, to honour the whole kshetra (sacred field) of Shiva, not just one temple. Completing it is regarded as the seal on a Kashi yatra.
Best time: Cooler months; many begin on Panchkroshi-linked tithis
