Before the Jyotirlinga at the heart of Kashi
Kashi Vishwanath houses one of the twelve Jyotirlingas — self-manifested forms of Shiva. To stand before it is the culmination of a Kashi pilgrimage; tradition says Shiva himself whispers the taraka mantra of liberation here. The rebuilt Vishwanath Dham corridor now links the temple to the Ganga, so many pair darshan with a Ganga snan.
