The bath that begins a Kashi pilgrimage
Hindus hold that the Ganga can wash away sins and purify body and mind. In Kashi, where the river curves north toward the Himalayas, a pre-dawn snan is the doorway to the day's worship — pilgrims bathe, offer water to the rising sun (Surya Arghya), and only then proceed to temple darshan.
